Description
The Aesthetic Surgery Fellowship will encompass the entire spectrum of aesthetic surgery including primary and revision breast surgery, body contouring (including post-bariatric surgery), facial rejuvenation surgery, rhinoplasty, female cosmetic genital surgery, as well as gender affirming top surgery. Experience with the newest technologies for minimally invasive and non-surgical skin tightening and fat reduction will also be provided. The Fellow will also gain significant experience in medical aesthetics including all hyaluronic acid injectables, neuro-modulators, skin care, and aesthetic lasers.  Practice and business management in aesthetic surgery will also be provided.

The Fellow will work on a daily basis with plastic surgeons Dr. Avi Islur, Dr. Ryan Mitchell, and Dr. Michal Brichacek. Aesthetic gynecology will be provided by Dr. Heather Diamond. The primary site of the fellowship will be The First Glance Aesthetic Clinic and Surgery Centre, based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Salary is provided at a PGY6 level ($45,000) and there are no call requirements outside the clinic.

A formal education program will be provided to the Fellow through didactic lectures and case conferences. The Fellow is expected to participate in the aesthetic education of the University of Manitoba Plastic Surgery Residents at academic half-days and journal clubs. The Fellow is encouraged to participate in clinical research during their training. Fellows will have the opportunity to attend the annual meeting of the Canadian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

Applicants are expected to have successfully completed residency training in Plastic Surgery and must be eligible for either “Full Practice” or “Regulated Member – Provisional – Academic – Post Certification Trainee” licensure by The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba (CPSM – www.cpsm.mb.ca). Malpractice insurance (resident/fellow status) must also be obtained from The Canadian Medical Protective Association (www.cmpa-acpm.ca). Opportunity may exist in some circumstances for Canadian applicants obtaining “full practice” licensure and full CMPA coverage to earn additional income by taking hospital-based call.

This fellowship is accredited by The University of Manitoba and endorsed by the Canadian Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

Interested applicants should send a current CV, a personal statement outlining your interest in pursuing aesthetic surgery training (limit 500 words) and 3 letters of reference (1 from Resident Program Director or Plastic Surgery Department/Section Chair is preferred).  Application materials should be emailed to the fellowship director, Dr. Avi Islur.
