Why Choose a CSAPS Surgeon?
Membership to the CSAPS is by invitation only. Surgeons must have years of proven experience and expertise and admittance requires sponsorship by at least two existing CSAPS members. CSAPS candidates must be fellowship trained in the specialty of Plastic Surgery and have dedicated their practice to Aesthetic Surgery and Medicine.
Exclusivity, excellence and results aren’t the only reasons to choose a CSAPS surgeon. An equally important reason is patient safety.
A Cosmetic Surgeon is NOT the same as a Fellowship-trained Plastic Surgeon. A Plastic surgeon has completed an extensive residency program that takes a minimum of 5 years of training after they became a doctor. During this comprehensive educational program, all aspects of plastic surgery are taught and explored in detail. Plastic surgeons are fully trained to manage plastic surgery issues, throughout your entire body; they are equally qualified to manage medical and surgical plastic surgery conditions for the face, breasts, abdomen and extremities.
Only after a candidate has competed their comprehensive residency, passed their Royal College examinations and worked many years in the area of cosmetic medicine and surgery will they even be considered for full membership into the CSAPS. Some doctors claim the title of “Cosmetic Surgeon” or “Facial Plastic Surgeon,” but these physicians are not Board Certified Plastic Surgeons. There are very few that have dedicated their career and practice to aesthetic medicine and surgery of the face, breasts, abdomen and extremities the way every CSAPS member has.
The Canadian Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery is grateful to the companies and supporters that help us reach our research and educational goals. Through these partnerships with our industry leaders, we’re innovating new practices and procedures, advancing knowledge in this cutting-edge field.
