 Zyderm® and Zyplast® implants are made of purified bovine (cow) collagen that is used to augment the skin's natural collagen and smooth facial lines and wrinkles. The implants contain a local anaesthetic agent called lidocaine that is used to help ensure patients' comfort during the injection procedure. There are various formulations for smoothing facial lines, wrinkles and scars and for providing lip border definition. Zyderm® 1 implants are used to treat fine lines, wrinkles and shallow scars; and worry lines, crows feet and nasolabial lines. Zyderm® 2 implants are used to treat moderate lines, wrinkles and scars.
Zyplast® implants are indicated to treat pronounced lines, furrows and scars, lip border definition, nasolabial folds, marionette lines and thicker areas of the skin. Treatment with Zyderm® or Zyplast® implants is an easy and effective way to smooth lines, wrinkles, scars and define the lip border. Treatment with Zyderm® and Zyplast® implants consists of a simple in-office procedure that can be completed quickly and conveniently, even during a lunch hour. Most patients return to their normal routine immediately following the procedure. An immediate, visible difference in appearance may be achieved in one treatment session. Four weeks prior to the procedure a skin sensitivity test is done on the forearm to determine if a patient has a sensitivity to the implants. Ninety-seven percent (97%) of men and women testedcan be treated with Zyderm® and Zyplast® implants. An ongoing series of customized treatments can preserve the look that is desired. These treatments are as easy and convenient as the first one. Rigorous clinical trials to determine the safety and efficacy of Zyderm® and Zyplast® collagen implants were conducted with 5,000 patients from 1976 to 1981. No other injectable collagen implants currently on the market have undergone such extensive study. |
